Born as Christopher Maurice “Chris” Brown (born May 5, 1989) Born in Tappahannock, Virginia, he has been drawn to music since his childhood and was heavily influenced by the sounds of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Anita Baker. However, it was not until the age of 11 that he actually possessed an amazing voice, thanks to his mother who quickly noticed her son’s talent after she heard him singing around their house.. Fresh off the release of his second “Back to Sleep” remix featuring August Alsina, Miguel, and Trey Songz, Chris Brown gets “fearless” on the latest cover of Urban Ink.

For the magazine’s “Relaunch Issue,” CB gets his shine on. Rocking huge rings, the Royalty singer covers half of his face as tag lines surround him, including “Fearless,” “Jesus,” and “The Man Behind the Media.”

Breezy sports different looks in the magazine’s smoky photo shoot, including a ripped up Bob Marley shirt, a vintage Bartman tee, and some shirtless snaps. He switches up the footwear too, stepping out in Timberland boots and Vans for the Miguel Starcevich-shot images.

Check out highlights from the cover story, where Brown discusses his daughter Royalty, his approach to music, and his rebellious spirit.

ON HIS APPROACH TO MUSIC: “Well, it’s easy: fearlessness. It’s not arrogance; it’s fearlessness. People dog themselves before they give themselves an opportunity to fail. So I think they let other people’s insecurities bring their doubts down. I don’t let that stop anything I’m doing. It’s never worked out for me in the past, so I think that listening to myself and focusing on what I needed to do puts me in that category. So if I wanted to rap or if I wanted to yodel, I think I would have just done it anyway with the confidence of me saying, ‘I’m gonna do it.’ People usually have a lack of confidence due to insecurities. Once again, it’s not arrogance. It’s just being very aware and fearless of doing things or willing to try.”

ON ROYALTY: “When I look at her, I see myself. I see a better version of myself. I just see her future. There’s no need to go backwards. At the end of the day, you learn that life is all about choices. Life is about responsibility and, actually, life is about love. Seeing my daughter embodies everything that I need to feel a sense of fulfillment and believe in myself. Being able to have her in my life, it’s just been amazing.”

ON BEING AN INSPIRATION AND NOT A ROLE MODEL: “I would just say that I would rather be an inspiration and not a role model. Make your own decisions. You don’t have to rebel just to rebel. You don’t have to accept just to accept. If you want to get a tattoo, if you think that’s your thing, then that’s cool. I personally think that now, not having a tattoo is kind of like a statement in itself. Our generation is gonna be old, tatted, and we’re gonna look so dope. So, it’s a choice. When my fans can say, “I want to get tatted or I don’t want to get tatted.” I don’t look at them any differently.”

ON HIS CONTROVERSIAL HEAD TATTOO: “It’s just whatever. People want shock value. If I went outside butt-naked tomorrow, it would be headline news. But for me, the bull symbolizes the Taurus I am and the Aphrodite, the Goddess of all women. My stubbornness always makes me attracted to those types of females. So that’s me [the bull] chasing Aphrodite.”

ON HIS BLACK PYRAMID CLOTHING LINE: “I was always one of those kids that equated fashion with the first day of school or Christmas or the last day of school. Looking at the Eastbay [catalog], I always wanted to be one of those kids that liked ’90s urban hip-hop culture. Admittedly, I’ve always been a fan of that. I think, with my clothing line, I tried to grasp that kind of concept, but also give my fans and my core audience a chance to see what type of clothes I like, the type of stuff that I’m into and clothing that’s actually affordable. My price range is like H&M and Zara prices, so I’m not trying to crush my consumers. I want them to be able to build the brand with me. Slowly roll out pieces and hopefully some small collabs will come out. I’m just getting my feet wet in the fashion industry. I want them to be able to see that I’m actually authentic and genuine about it. Not just trying to do it because it looks nice.”

Chris Brown is gracing the December/January 2016 issue of VIBE magazine rocking a grey teddy bear Joy Rich crew sweater and flashing his huge gorgeous smile.

Inside the issue, Breezy opens up about becoming a father and revealed when he first approached Nia Guzman, she told him Royalty wasn’t his daughter.

I had thought about it. I had saw pictures, and I was like ‘Damn.’ So I asked, and [Nia] was like ‘Nah, it’s not you.’ So I was like cool, I didn’t think it was an issue. But when I found out, it was kind of like, ‘Damn, she looks just like me.’ And I didn’t care about how me and her mother didn’t have a relationship, I didn’t care about any situation. I just wanted to see her. I just wanted to be able to have that opportunity, as something personal to me. I’m not gonna be upset, I’m not gonna be mad. I have to be honest with myself and pick the priorities over the situation. I had to make my priority my daughter.

On how being a “stereotype” and his thoughts on police brutality against Black men:

“I’m the general statistic of the young black male: a father out of wedlock, tattoos, sags my pants, hangs with people that would be called outcasts, been to jail, has a criminal record.” But as the discussion shifts to the onslaught of police brutality against his not-famous peers, Brown’s response is layered with conflicting sensibilities. On one hand, he’s not responsible for speaking out against injustice because he isn’t running for office. On the other, he separates his celebrity status from his personal thoughts and feelings. On yet another, he urges black people to “stick together” and laments the absence of “black leaders.” Admittedly operating in an industry and society “convoluted as prisoners to our own materialism,” Brown contends, “If I can complain about the diamonds not being bright enough on my chain or my ring, I should also be fighting just as hard to put somebody else in a house, helping somebody that’s homeless, feeding somebody, showing my concerns.” Not exactly the next champion of the movement, but it’s his way.

You can’t be stagnant and you cannot continue to do the same things and expect a different outcome. So for me, it’s a reflections album. I love being a father, you know, and at the same time, there were certain wrongs and certain rights that I did do. I might’ve hurt some people along the way.

All my music is a reflection of what I go through in my life so I wouldn’t put too many particulars on it but, my music is in my blood, it’s what I breathe. In this album people can honestly understand who I’m trying to be, as a man, not who I am. Life is knowledge, trying to define the higher or the next level of consciousness. I’m trying to stay true to myself as an artist and what I wanted to say on my own album. It’s like a point to prove almost. So it just feels like, the first album, what you gonna do, you’re going to hit or miss you know? And I like the fact that I doubt myself sometimes because it makes me humble.

People make mistakes, I’ve made mistakes, I’ve judged people who made mistakes, and they judge me back. The best part about it is me having to learn. I think I had a great time like … <he corrects himself> I didn’t have a great time… at all, but it was a great lesson for me to learn. I thank God he had something bigger for me to do. The mindset I was in when I was younger, it was full of arrogance like ‘yeah I’m an asshole like, so what fuck it, I got money like’ and you know, at the end of the day everybody knows right from wrong.

No, it’s not real stuffing, it’s the one and only Chris Brown! Breezy is about to drop his new album Royalty, named after his daughter, but there’s been lots of rumors as to when the actual release date is.

“I’m gonna have something special dropping for them Black Friday, but the original album date will by December 18th,” says Brown. Breezy likes to give his fans something extra to show his appreciation, but what that something special is on Black Friday, we’ll just have to wait and see! Why are secrets always so harsh?

The last time Brown visited our studios was back in February with Tyga and the topic of conversation was how much of a father figure he has become to Tyga’s son, King. He’s even King’s godfather!

But Brown made a comment back then that changed his life for forever: “I don’t even have a kid yet, so me just watching him, and you know us knowing each other before he was here, I’m like man, you got a kid!” He heard that for the first time since then and laughed, “I kinda spoke it into existence, I guess.”

Chris Brown Talks Royalty, Squashing TMZ Rumors and More With Angie Martinez. A new and quite improved Chris Brown sat down for one very personal interview with Angie Martinez.

The album ‘Royalty’ is all done and ready drop on December 18th, so Breezy came through to let us know what we can expect from the project and while he was in the building he also talked about:

In one of the more confusing album campaigns we’ve seen in a while (lets not forget about Jeremih’s Late Nights: The Album of course), Chris Brown’s Royalty album is facing yet another setback unfortunately.

All day long Chris has been on his social media accounts blasting the hashtag #BlackFriday & #Royalty, leaving us to presume that the album was still in fact dropping on the original release date of November 27, but apparently that’s not the case anymore.

In a new interview with Nessa from Hot 97, Breezy lowkey confirmed that his album will now be dropping everywhere on December 18 instead of Black Friday. He says that November 27 will serve as the album’s pre-order date, along with the unveiling of its official tracklist and snippets as well. You’d think he make some more noise to warn the fans of the setback, but apparently he’s doing the complete opposite and staying rather quiet on the subject matter.

Aside from the announcement (which you can see @19:05 mark below), Chris also talks about the inspiration behind the album coming from his daughter Royalty, fatherhood, maturing as a man, past relationships with Rihanna x Karrueche, and a whole lot more in this lengthy 36-minute interview below. If you got the time, strongly recommend checking this out.

While Brown seemed to be in a talkative mood during the interview, afterward was a different story.

“Don’t ask me about Drake or Rihanna. Anything u need to hear is in all our music. #500, I’ve given the world enough opinions. I’m not doing no more interviews unless it’s about my art or music. It’s nothing else anyone needs.”

he tweeted, according to E! News, although he seems to have deleted it later.

With their joint album Fan of a Fan due Tuesday, Chris Brown and Tyga stopped by Nessa on Hot 97 while in town for their “Between the Sheets Tour.” During the candid interview, the “Ayo” duo sounded off on everything from their personal relationships with Karrueche Tran and Kylie Jenner to Kanye’s “Breakfast Club” comments to their dislike for Drake.

They also revealed that they are working on a movie. “There hasn’t been a cultural movie as far as our generation is concerned, your traditional house parties,” said Chris. “We want to be able to have those music movies that kinda define the culture of our generation right now.”

chris-brown-cover-2014-billboard-bb29-510BILLBOARD.COM – Just hours after receiving a positive probation progress report in a Los Angeles courtroom, Chris Brown candidly spoke with Billboard for our latest cover story, opening up about his upcoming sixth album, X, and what life was like for him behind bars.

Less than two weeks later, Brown was at the center of a new scandal — hip-hop mogul Suge Knight and two others were shot at his VMA pre-party on Aug. 24. In the midst of unsubstantiated reports and endless speculation, the R&B singer reached out to Billboard with this exclusive statement about trying to move past his troubles — even as they nip at his heels.

“I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure,” Brown tells Billboard. “I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.”

On Aug. 13, a high spirited Chris Brown gave Billboard his first formal interview since leaving jail in June.
