“Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point,” the singer’s representatives said in a statement, a day after Brown appeared in court.

“We talked today and he said, ‘I want to take some time and do a little introspection and understand everything that’s going on around me,‘” lawyer Mark Geragos told the Daily News. It was his decision, and he should be applauded.”

The decision comes one day after Washington, D.C., prosecutors lowered an assault charge to a misdemeanor after the 24-year-old was accused of striking a man during a fight outside the W Hotel in the early morning hours on Sunday, following a party at a nearby nightclub.

Earlier Chris Brown tweeted:

TMZ has reported that Brown has agreed to spend up to 3-months in a Malibu rehab clinic if need be.

Sources connected to the singer tell TMZ … there has been no firm decision on the precise length of time Brown will stay, but everyone in Brown’s camp — including Brown himself — is open to as much as 3 months.

One source put it this way … “The rehab facility has been told to take him [Brown] apart and put him back together.”

Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, believes it’s very likely the judge in the Rihanna case will revoke Brown’s probation due to the charge, which could potentially put him in series trouble as the max sentence is up to 4 years in jail. The rehab move is an act of good faith, showing Brown is dealing with his problems.

The two men, who had spent the previous 36 hours in a Washington jail, entered a packed courtroom in leg irons and handcuffs, but at the end they were unshackled and released without bail Monday afternoon.
Brown, 24, was ordered to report to his California probation officer within 48 hours and to stay at least 100 yards away from the man he is accused of assaulting early Sunday. Both men must return to court on November 24.

Christopher Brown committed no crime, We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and his property, as he is authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing.”
His attorney Danny Onorato told reporters after the hearing.

The 24-year-old singer and his bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, were arrested early Sunday in front of the the W Hotel in Washington.

A Maryland man told police he had tried to be part of a picture Brown was taking with a woman and her friend when Brown told him, “I ain’t down with that gay s–t” and “I feel like boxing,” according to charging documents in the case. The man, identified by police as Parker Isaac Adams, 20, of Beltsville, Md., said he was punched by both Brown and Hollosy before Brown boarded his tour bus.

Brown denied to police that he punched anyone or had been involved in a confrontation, saying someone had tried to get on his bus “and my bodyguard handled it,” according to the documents. Hollosy told police he punched Adams in the face after Adams tried to follow Brown onto the bus and get to Brown, court documents say.
